Semester 2 - Transition
Leading Digital Media workshops as part of the pathway introduction,
where students develop digital skills through two practical projects.
Project 1: Area X

Area X is an interactive photography series of street billboards in Cairo. Illustrating how the advertising industry has flooded every corner of our lives with images and how corporations treat public spaces as advertising real estate. The constant bombardment of brands makes it impossible to go about our daily lives without feeling the pressure of consumption. In pairs, students turn billboard footage into illustrated stop-motion animations with sound and AR, presenting printed frames that satirize mass media.

Project 2: Chessland

Students reimagined a new generation of chess characters with different identities, backstory, and purpose. Stripped of their predefined functions, the pieces are redefined by their roles within this new society. They 3D modelled, 3D printed chess pieces, and made 2D animations to simulate an enviroment through projection mapping, creating a life-sized interactive chessboard.
